Consulting Services
Consulting
services are those services which are more theoretical and preventative in nature.
To me, thorough
research and property studying are the most important aspects of a
good consult. A description of various consulting
services includes, but is not
limited to:
Security Surveys -
This is a thorough physical examination of of a property, including an exhaustive
inspection of all
procedures and operational systems. These can be done for
residential as well as commercial sites.
Risk Analysis / Risk
management - is the process of identifying potential areas of loss and then developing and
implementing counteractive security measures. Some risk management techniques include:
avoidance, reduction,
spreading, and transference.
Criticality /
vulnerability matrix - A spreadsheet which encompasses various aspects of a business and
illustrates
which components or functions of the industry are the most vital to the performance of that particular business.
Cost Benefit
analysis - This is a study of how much gain or loss a business gets for implementing a
particular
loss prevention concept. An example could be, how much money will it save
me if I install security cameras to
reduce theft?
Disaster and
Emergency response planning - In today's world, most companies already have these policies
in place.
They are generally handled by the Human Resources Department. For
those who need help with these issues, I can
help you develop a disaster and/or emergency plan that will be effective. Such
plans include policies and procedures for
what to do during tornadoes, fires, hurricanes,
bomb threats and the like.
Security Instruction - Most of the time this includes giving common
sense tips to people on how to be more cautious.
What can I do to make my home or business safer? What can I do to
reduce the likelihood of being a target?
Personal Consulting - Most of the the time there is no "one size fits
all approach". Clients can be faced with multiple
and varied challenges regarding virtually any aspect of their home,
business, or property. I will analyze your particular
problem and work with you to come up with a workable solution.
These are just some examples of
common consulting practices, but by no means is this a complete list.
The outcome of an effective consulting session is simple, to
increase a person's, home's, or business's safety level.
The real
purpose of using the above
techniques is to identify areas, either physical, procedural, or systematic,
that can be
improved to prevent a loss or improve safety.
Rates for consulting services are
negotiable and depend on the scope and size of the job. In my first class,
Charles told us a statistic that startled us all.
.40 cents
of every dollar is attributable to theft. Which when
applied
means that it costs businesses almost twice as much
as it should to provide a good or
service. Theft
is the reason why it costs so much for everything these days.
The
loss has to be made up somewhere, and
it comes out of consumers' pockets in the
end.
